Open positions in data analysis

Computational Biology Group is looking for post-docs, PhD students, and research assistants (Bachelor’s and Master’s level students) with interest in data sciences to join the group.

Our main research areas are applied biomedical research and development of computational data analysis tools. We expect high motivation (demonstrated e.g. by top grades) and interest in developing new skills in the area of data science. Prior knowledge from biosciences is not necessary, but certainly beneficial.

Specific projects that we offer are related to:
Development of deep learning methods for bioimage analysis.
Development and application of new data analysis methods to large biomedical datasets.
Analysis of big data generated from patient samples.

Associate professor (molecular biology, cell and tissue engineering or bioinformatics) at Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences

Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences at the University of Tampere invites applications for a tenure track position (Associate professor), from January 1, 2018. The successful candidate must hold a doctoral degree in an appropriate field, a proven track record of independent active scientific research in the fields of molecular biology, cell and tissue engineering, or bioinformatics, an ability to lead research project or group, to obtain external funding and have good teaching skills. A candidate appointed to the post is required to have the ability to conduct high standard research in a field related to or complementing to the current strategic fields of research at Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences. The successful accomplishment of the tasks will entail a fluent command of English.
